What are classroom displays?
A classroom display is a large, interactive touchscreen mounted to the wall or mobile trolley. Unlike older whiteboard and projector setups, modern classroom displays are bright, responsive, easy to use and designed specifically for schools.
They’re built with safety glass, Wi-Fi connectivity, education-specific software and long warranties. They also feature secure remote access, mirroring and multiple inputs. All designed around making teaching easier and more effective.
You’ll usually find them in 65"–86" screen sizes, fixed to the wall with adjustable soundbars, or on trolleys for flexibility across classrooms.
How do classroom displays improve teaching and learning?
Modern displays don’t just show content, they become part of the learning. Teachers can write directly onto the screen using a pen or finger, interact with pupils in real time and use education software to adapt lessons to suit different learning needs.
In a maths lesson, for example, a teacher can run a live interactive quiz on times tables. Pupils answer at the board and the teacher sees immediately who’s grasped it without printing worksheets or waiting to mark books after school.
You can build in moments of assessment, save lesson content for review and make the classroom feel more dynamic and inclusive. This is especially helpful for pupilis with SEND, giving them a better chance to engage and take part.
How do classroom displays help IT teams and school leaders?
IT teams can remotely manage classroom displays from a single device. Installing apps, adjusting settings, rolling out updates or setting automatic shut-off times to save energy. This reduces the need for on-site visits and long support requests.
School leaders also benefit from better visibility over their tech estate, improved energy savings and fewer disruptions to learning when things go wrong. Schools are experiencing visible energy savings compared to older display technologies.
Plus, in emergencies, classroom displays can double as signage. Showing instant safeguarding alerts, lockdown messages or important notices pushed from a central system.
What’s the alternative?
If you’re still using projector-and-whiteboard setups or ageing interactive boards from years ago, your classrooms are missing out. Projector bulbs fade and break, visibility becomes a problem and the software isn’t keeping up with the curriculum.
Outdated technology also takes more time to maintain and costs more in the long run. Classroom displays are now the new standard.
